So more update on the HVAC saga. Remember I posted this a couple of days ago:

Yet another issue with HVAC Heat Pump this morning. Walk down in morning to frigid first floor at 60 degrees. Clearly the heating has failed on first floor again so I promptly call the tech. They send a person out in morning - the guy spends hours and hours here only for him to say, “I cant diagnose this t... supremus.micro.blog

Well, so we ended up getting two different HVAC technicians from two companies, partly because of how I ended up scheduling them. Anyhow, the first guy walks in with full confidence and says he knows our system and make inside out, and he’ll figure this out in no time. Spends an hour or two, and tells me upfront that the electric coils for our backup heater are non-functional. He shows me all the voltage connections, readings on his meters etc and sure enough they are all zero! Says nothing else is problem - the electric coils are not working and need replacement, otherwise all is kosher with system. Says he will send quote for the electric coills next morning. By that time our heat is working fine.

Next morning the guy from another provider comes in. Now this company is highly rated in our HOA group (why i didnt search for rec there in first place is another story!), and the guy comes in and says well yeah, your electric coils are not working because the voltage is not getting to it. And reason why its not getting to it is because you have a faulty……Ecobee!. He then says there is no issues with my heating system, but a bunch of connections are simply loose - that will explain why sometimes heater actually works and sometimes doesnt. Then says, ecobee is hosed because its not sending the right trigger to start the electric coils. When he bypassed ecobee and started them manually, they fired properly. Wrote up a report to replace ecobee and went off on his way. Later at night i contacted ecobee support and they are like yeah it happens sometimes and they are sending me a free replacement.

So in the end I have no real clue what is going on. All I can say with confidence is almost all big guy HVAC guys are complete crooks. I find it hard to believe that one guy says your electric heaters are conked, while another one says nope absolutely not. Then the last guy shows me loose connections which you would think the other guy should’ve figured out. I have now no faith in these people. I am 100% sure even if there are no issues, these people will muck your system on purpose so something goes wrong and they can charge you. I am 100% confident that is the case that all these HVAC techs are basically thieves operating for their companies and they deliberately spoil the system so you keep spending.

It also makes sense considering in my last townhouse I had a 20 year old furnace that i never once got it serviced - whether it was annual checks or anything else, i didnt do anything. It worked absolutely fine all through.
