Mom would’ve turned only 65 today. Its wild to think its been 13 years since we’ve lost her, but the wounds are still feel fresh. On the other hand the living must go on and not let the burden of past weigh them down. Today we celebrate my wife’s birthday too. Mom and her shared the day for a few brief years that their lives crossed paths (less than 3!). And by a strange stroke of luck, it also is my FIL-MIL’s wedding anniversary too.

I keep thinking back to March 2020 when things began to shut down in the country and I feel like I have no recollection of the first couple of months of the shut down. Its a complete blur. The only connection to those days are the photos. And then the photos make it feel like oh we met so and so in June, oh wait her swim began in September, oh we are out doing so and so outside and don’t convey the gravity of the situation in those days. I am glad I don’t remember much of that time, but I do feel like March 2020 feels like 10 years ago at this point.
We are having a “thunder” storm in February. In February. The earliest I imagine thunderstorms hitting us was around April. And oh, it also kind snow flaked this morning. Only in DC area can you go from bitter cold to snow to a thunderstorm to a beautiful 60 degree sunny day all in a matter of sunrise to sunset.

In other news my kid is on a complete device (phone, iPad, kindle, laptop) timeout for a week over an incident that I did not expect out of her. Last night she brushed it off saying who cares! but this morning it turns out she cares too much about losing access to all her friends messaging groups and realized the magnitude of not being able to chit chat with her friends for a week! Too bad girl, I am still the dad here and some lessons are learnt the hard way. It’s the perfect time for me to tell her in my days we had no phone…..
Apparently the kid won a bet with a family friend’s kid. The bet was that kid was going to propose to a girl on valentine’s day and my kid said she would reject him, which is exactly how it turned out. To be fair my kid and another friend’s kid tried their best to be his support and gave him lots of tips on what to do, but alas. Later at dinner table I quipped that over the last year, herself and the other kids of family friends of ours have all been rejected by their respective crushes, so maybe its time they started dating brown kids instead of chasing white kids. Obviously I got the eyebrows from the kid, but I was like, ya know, brown ain’t bad!
What is it about Rugby that makes is so much fun to watch than American Football which in theory is almost similar but is an absolute dud game to follow. Its like American Football literally took the worst out of every sport and made it their own, and then convinced an entire populace that its a amazing sport.

I don’t know the first episode has kind of soured Jon Stewart for me, at least temporarily. While I enjoyed his Tucker takedown it just didnt seem to have meat that it should have. Like everything felt like duh. Who is his audience at this point, really? I dont think he knows either.( I mean Tucker was pretty much ridiculed by one and all with the same jokes by people who hate him already. I guess maybe the current medium of quick reaction is souring what could’ve been a great take? )
