Our next door immediate neighbor are weirdly odd older white couple. Before we moved in, both the husband & wife would incessantly chat with me about the previous owners of the house, the community, what they did etc. They went to great lengths to tell us to ping them for anything - be it tools, things to do, places to eat yada yada. Like in spite of telling them we barely moved 3 miles from our previous place, they were super friendly about how much they love to help. They have 4 dogs, and train dogs for PTSD veterans and the lady remarked that she would love to house/train our dog too (which would be a blessing honestly!) and we were so excited.
And now its been 2 weeks since we moved, we’ve barely talked. Everytime I say hi to either husband or wife, they wave back…. and thats it. My doggo wants to befriend their doggos, and she actively pulls them away everytime my doggo goes to fence to say hi to their dogs. They’ve been keeping a super keen eye on whats happening in our house - “oh you got your backyard cleaned up of shrubs!”, “oh you got some skylights installed”, “oh i saw a plumber come by” and such random 1-2 sentences.
I will truly never understand white people. And did I mention another of our neighbors welcomed us with a box of tomatoes and some basil?
