The cold snap last week sent our furnaces into hyper drive mode. The aux mode on our heater triggered constantly to the point that without the aux mode our house is not heating up. Asked around in ecobee forums on Reddit and a couple of people said it was normal with extreme cold. I was not convinced with this since ecobee sends me a daily message around how my aux mode is overworked. Today I had a hvac guy come over and first thing he says - yeah your compressor isn’t running at all and the only heat you have in house is coz of aux lol. His deep dive has resulted in other findings that need fixing as well. Welcome to new house ownership where the money doesn’t matter and everyone wins except the homeowner!
