So before we start our kitchen remodel the architect came over to inspect our walls and posts. Turns out good news is we don’t have a load bearing wall in kitchen that we wanted to bring down. Bad news is there is a support post right in the middle of the hallway so we can bring down hallway walls too and keep the support post. If we don’t want the support post we would have to add a supplemental beam above. I am conflicted about having an eyesore like support post but it’s also so much cheaper. How do you work around a support post and make it attractive?
