I opened a role in my team last Thursday. In the 4 days it’s been open, I am looking at a pool of 300+ applicants. I have another 50+ messages to sift through that came in internally or via LinkedIn. 99% of the applicants are Indians or South Asians! In spite of clearly specifying the locations I am hiring for, I am getting pings from folks in India who are like dont worry about visa issues, I will figure out how to get there, just give me the job!. I am like bro, WTF are you even on and no I am not entertaining such requests. It’s such a tough market out there ooof. [I am surprised though at the lack of non south asian talent pool though. Or my company’s reputation is so down the drain only south asians apply anymore because majority of them have visa issues?]
