The one that connects us all in family #mbmar

I find headlines like “history will not look kindly…” or “history will judge someone…” extreme cop out and useless. Does anyone think Hitler really cared how history is judging him now? Fuck no. He did what he wanted to do when he was alive and caused immense tragedy. You wanna learn from history then prevent it from happening, not parrot how history is going to remember something. This guy is such a fucktard.

I guess one last log for the season tho bantha hai?

3 weeks ago this area used to be our first floor powder room bisecting our living room and kitchen.

    PLAY. WITH. ME! #mbmar

I was inspired by @parag to post pictures from our own Hawaii trip from 2008. All three of these were at Mauna Kea, which stands at 13800 feet or so. Two-thirds of this volcano is actually underneath the sea. In fact, by some measures it is also one of the highest mountains in the world if you consider the base of the mountain is actually deep within ocean.

Anyhow, there’s a small hill behind Mauna Kea that you can hike to. The not-so-smart young men we were at that time, we decided to jog up the hill instead of walking. We didn’t get very far before the lack of oxygen hit us like bricks and we barely made it up alive. But this is a special place - I will never forget the drive to Mauna Kea and the first time you break the clouds and start driving above it for at least a good 3-5 miles. The views were breathtaking (literally!), and I’ve never skies so clear. Later that night, we stopped back at observatory / rest stop at 9000 feet for some spectacular star gazing. Volunteers were there helping people like us look through telescopes and see nebulas and stars galore. Very memorable.

I gather that it is no longer possible for you drive your own car all the way to top, and you have to take their transport up there. You can no longer stay for sunset too I heard, but I dont know. Back then you could stay until the sun set and the observatory police would come and ask people to leave so scientific experiments could resume. If you didnt already know, Mauna Kea has some of the clearest skies anywhere in the world for star gazing, and while its a controversial topic with locals (they hold the mountain in high regard religiously), Mauna Kea’s importance to space exploration cannot be stated enough. #mbmar

I am a sucker for old B&W photos. I am so glad I took the effort to digitize a ton of photos over a decade ago. With all the moves between places within family, a lot of these have now been lost to suitcases. They are not lost lost, but lost enough that its too much effort to find them now.

This is such a horribly aggregated headline its not funny. Here’s the truth - better.com made this shit up on their own. There is no fucking agreement between either companies. And best yet, you could always do this with lots of other lenders.

Last night we celebrated wife’s birthday at the recently opened Rania, a modern Indian restaurant with prex-fixe menu and all that. I was slightly skeptical wondering if the chef would go out of his way to satisfy the white people palette, but one bite into the shrimp koliwada for starters and my fears were misplaced. Every course was absolutely stunning! The combination of flavors, spice and the distinctive taste of each item even within the same dish was amazing. We have never been to a high end Michelin star (and this is not a Michelin star, yet), but by god the explosion of flavors continued all through to desert and mouth freshener at end. Sure it was a very expensive meal (and you can make it much cheaper by visiting after 9pm), but this was one heck of a memorable meal! Even today morning I and wife can’t stop talking about the flavors. DC food scene keeps getting better and better.

Of all the upgrades we did putting this grass and fence is best thing we did. Cant wait for spring summer fall to enjoy time in backyard

At a swim meet in Warrentom, booneylands of Virginia. We ended up at a Thai place for lunch and had some of the best Thai food we have ever had. So much so that on day two of the meet again I am here solo just to eat the same fried rice again. So fucking good.

    This is hilarious!

This 10 day forecast makes me so happy. Winter is running out of time and I am ready for it. Historically we have had a bad snap in March but it doesn’t last.

Reminder that Uncle Sam only cares about taxes, not how you obtain it.

A beautiful day after the cold snap meant a nice walk that turned into a walk in the woods leading to Starbucks coffee and back. A Sunday well spent already.
