Driving to Michigan for spring break tomorrow and the worst part of this drive for me is 80% of this drive is probably through rural America which i completely and utterly despise at this point. I am scared for mine and my family’s safety and all I want is to get from point A to point B. Its a shame that being a citizen I feel this unsafe & scared about driving through in my country, and yes I am being paranoid, but fuck the rural rust belt. I have done various parts of this drive and I do not like driving through rural West Virginia or Pennsylvania, and in particular Pennsylvania rust belt that really feel unsafe and scary.

Where the fuck did spring go? Why are we back in Winter again. Truly, truly despise this shit. Enough of this already! Even the flowers are blooming and the stupid cold refuses to just leave for rest of the year.

This has been an exhausting week already with a sick kid and heavy work load. Hopefully things get better later in week just in time for spring vacay!

Finished reading: The Dark Forest (Remembrance of Earth’s Past, #2) by Liu Cixin 📚★★★★★

The follow up to The Three Body Problem is spectacular as well, though it does suffer from a rather weird translation. Especially if you jump into this book right after first, the translation becomes obvious - its not nearly as captivating or as free flowing as first book. The first third of the book makes you go what is going on, but the final third of this book is just brilliant. I kept thinking I know how this is all going only to be stumped again & again.

What a spectacular book. The ideas and thoughts in this book are just beyond compare. Its not a wonder that this is considered one of the best sci-fi books in recent times. Kudos to the translator for a phenomenal job!

As per WSJ apparently Austin, the hottest market for real estate past decade is cooling down significantly. I am like, color me surprised. Look, Austin is an amazing city, and heck, we’ve thought about how nice Austin might be to live too many, but the state politics has pretty much ensured that we’d never think about moving there or anywhere in Texas. Imagine, just imagine where Texas could’ve been with lets say a blue state government?

If you told me 6 months back it was the NY civil case that would cause Trump the most heartburn (considering he’s basically been going on a free ride on all others) I would’ve been surprised. Whatever, make the motherfucker burn.

What happened to Marie Kondo? She is completely out of news now. Did she run out of houses to empty out?

Watching the Taylor Swift ERAS concert movie on Disney plus and my god what a show. We are watching 30 mins each day and I can totally see why my kid so so so so wants to do this concert live this year. The resale tix are expensive but I wonder if I should just splurge for the kid to give her the experience of her lifetime. By all means the show looks totally worth it.

Also, I am surprised how many songs I know so well and can sing / hum along now. I guess I will love this concert as well if we do.

Let’s see if this fixes the problem. Omg it did. The problem I was having for last few weeks was that the keyboard would shift to numeric randomly. The fix to it was to turn off slide to type setting in settings and now it’s much better! I don’t even remember turning that thing on!

Happy to report an under represented and a poo4 student we had been sponsoring in India graduated today as a doctor (MBBS). Go on and prosper my friend and save lives! One of our very fulfilling days this.

The 3 body problem on netflix premiers in a few days and I am still stuck on book 2. There is no way I will finish the trilogy before the series so I am hoping the season 1 is just book 1. My hopes from the series are just too low though.

Today is RBG’s birthday and the first words that came out of my mouth was stupid fucking prick. Look I have immense, immense respect for her, but ultimately her ego cost democrats a valuable SCOTUS seat. I hope other democrat judges look at her example and know timing their exit is extremely important (yeah, looking at you Sotomayor).

Constellation on apple tv began with so much promise by end of sixth episode last night I can hardly care for anything thats going on in the show anymore.

Is it just me or that new iPhone ad featuring the Indian / south Asian family is just not… funny. I guess they intended it that way but it just doesn’t land.

Biden would be super stupid to ban TikTok before the elections and lose out on young voters.

I think I have again succumbed to reading too much news, especially about the elections and upping my anxiety levels assuming the worst will happen. I need to find that balance again and cut down on my news consumption via Apple News / Google News / X / BSky / Masto and kind of focus back on mental health again. Its not worth it and I must keep reminding myself that if Trump does win in November then the country absolutely deserves him, and I just need to keep an eye on backup plans if needed. Thats all.

Not sure why so much brouhaha over Lily Gladstone not winning the Oscar for killers. All she did was look sad and miserable for three and half hours on screen!
